Rani Mukherjee first release of the year 2007 was Ta Ra Rum Pum and she went for a fringe haircut this time. Mukherjee will be sporting a modern, up-market and slightly sexy look in chic western outfits for the first half of the film. She had to go through intense training to slim down and be suitable for the role. Mukherjee instantly agreed to do this movie once she had finished reading the script as she could identify her character with her own mother who handled every crisis in their lives in a good way. The actress has modelled her performance on her mother. It is also her first movie where she is playing a mother on celluloid. The director of the movie, Siddharth Anand, was actually Mukherjee’s school friend who she fondly calls Sid. Meanwhile, she has joined hands with her brother in setting up a TV production. The whole concept was only conceived seven months earlier and will now be set rolling.
